stray pictures - exhibition and book launch held in the budapest project gallery in 2019
i would call myself a snapshot photographer. my interest lies in studying the relationship between our cityscapes and the people using them through my photography. the connection between people existing as isolate beings in the metropolitan vibe of our cities. the city that strikes me as a huge throbbing organism formed by the assembly of people, architecture, cars, plants, dirt, etc.
walking around the city I take snapshots that are by no way representative of the particular city. they are more like impressions made on my mind, imperfect perceptions of the surroundings expressed in black and white photographs. similar to the mirror of André Kertész, I reflect slightly distorted things in my photographs.
i follow the footsteps of great photographers like daido moriyama, araki, masahisa fukase and other mostly japanese artists. but I also realized looking at my works, the differences in our approach thus I caught a glimpse of my photographic style growing and forming. It’s a sense of feeling that I couldn’t shoot what I shoot in any different way than how I shoot it.
